Mache Mountain

Post by mattinair »

There were so many things I wanted to change or correct on my "Addiction" layout that I decided to build an entirely new layout over the winter.... I'm calling it Maché Mountain  I've just gotten the trains actually running ...

This photo kind of looks like a water color painting

I'm running the electronic switch controllers off of a battery pack, making the layout completely portable.
I've got a lot of things I want to glue onto this thing ....

Better photo of future mining operation site

I'm guessing that there must be of sort of mathematical Mendelbrot theory thing that states when a surface is deformed, whether it's the surface of the earth itself or a piece of paper, despite the scale difference, the resulting shapes are fundamentally the same.... Just guessing ;)

I've added an impressionistic  tower representing some part of some industrial infrastructure here on planet 19 in the vicinity of what's supposed to be the mine area on the "layout" ....

Trying to get the lighting even half-way right was a real challenge ....

I had just finished gluing the tower down when I took these photos. I'll blend the base in eventually .

This is actually a very nice layout! Not that one cannot more more or less guess by the track segments and other indcations such as the coffee mug, but what are the exact overall dimensions of this layout? And are you planning to add vegetation or will you keep the painted mache look (which actually does have its charm)?

Cheers,

Chris

Chris, Thanks for your reply. The layout is about 15"x 40". Yes I'm going to put vegetation on it ..... Check some of my other posts and utube etc.

A new little structure on the layout

And Oops .... I dropped a picture frame right on the tracks ... Totally smashed and broken ... Had to pry a section of track back up with a skewer ... Nothing a little glue etc. etc. can't fix
