HI All T-Gauge fans

I have just started on my Ilkley Station Layout.

1 foot by 8 foot.

Consisting os 5 points two of which are auto points for no fingers on show until I can get the motor points with the controller for them when it comes out.

It will have Ilkley Railway Station as the main show plus with the bus station and a couple of roads such as Brook Street-Railway Street and the B6382 etc.

Allready got my 2 boards and just need legs for exihibitions and will make it travel freindly as this will pack into any small car as I will enabke both boards to become a single unit for travel purposes.

please see below for pics, track work done on SCRAM software.

I will do more when I get the chance as I am working on 3D modelling the buildings and also started to paint a few(LOL). :D

Regards
Graham

Hi All

I have now stated on the boards with legs so that the layout can be taken to shows easy in a car as it is onlt 1 by 4 foot x2 so overall 1 by 8 in total.

Needing to get some bolts and leg ties now before starting the ground work on the layout ie leveling.

I am printing my own buildings out now as this will keep the cost down to a mimuim.

Will keep you all upto date. :D

Graham

Yes, very good looking buildings. I do know these buildings, and you have captured them well.

Hard to believe that Ilkley was at one time a through station not a terminus, and that a good number of the buildings you have modelled were only able to be built after the tracks to Skipton, and the bridge over the road, had been removed.

I've just connected the facts and the places on the Earth. As a young student from Poland I had to be in the area - maybe I was in Illkley... I spend 2,5 moths in Bradford having practical placement at National Museum of Photography, Film and Television in 1992... Most of the weekends I was travelling around, visiting Yorshire Dales etc..

Fantastic work, it’s coming along nicely! Such a shame the stock points force us into unrealistic track geometry...shame they don’t do fixed crossovers! Still, I don’t think it detracts from the layout at all!

Looking really great!

@mattd10: you have a point about the points, but the geometry is also easy to modify (to some extent, at least). Here's photo of a point which I modified by just cutting it down to the turnout angle which I needed and then connecting to the ongoing track with some flexi to raised track joiners.

This modification to the points looks so logical that it is suprising they are not sold to this format.

Having never actually tried it myself, I could only assume the thinking is that there is not enough strength left in the points for a commercial offering unless all the rail sections are left longer.

The modification looks great! Looks like it’s supposed to be like that! Will definitely steal that idea!

I have been working on this layout as this may be out on Exhibition duties from next year from May onwards.

It is a 8 foot by 1 foot so easy for carting in a car.

Adding working street lights and hopefully Dough's Fire Engines to be made with blue flashing lights putting a fire out.

Added also pontigrapghs and trees which helps to make it come to life and thanks to Dough I have now the canopys added in with also lights underneath.

hope you enjoy :D

Love what you are doing here, some great modelling.

Knowing this area well (we were walking round Ilkley yesterday in the rain!) it is great to see the details being added and being modelled so acurately on what is actually there around the station.

Hi NeilM
I am glad that someone has been there and reconized the 3D models and scenary in the station area.

Will be placing all the road details on next as I cannot place any vehicles on yet(boohoo) :(

Also be getting more figures on this layout as it is a town scene , and then shuttering the layout in its back scenes and fiddle yard shuttering with 9mm ships plywood. :D

I think I will be painting the back scene like Low Moor layout but will have to add more dymanic backgrounds to intergrate the back boards to the layout.

WIll keep posting updates as this layout should be in the May day weekend 4th and 5th May 2019 at Bradford Model Railwa Show who I am a member of. Once I no what is happening I will place the advert for the Exihibition details up on the forum.
I will have then two layouts then on Exihibtion lists to display and event from.

regards
Graham

Wow seriously excellent work! How about an overall shot with an everyday object in it for scale?
