That looks fantastic! especially considering it's T scale.

Today I received the new BR01 housing and chassis made of brass.
Both new parts are precision casting products.
The quality is excellent and is very sure the root of a small series.
With his update I show the development history of my BR01 locomotive

At first I milled a gearbox for testing gears and wheels. Followed by
printed brass samples for motor integration, I used printed plastic samples
to optimise space and to integrate cylinder and slider housing.
In the finished brass chassis the digital decoder takes also place.
As perfection a professional did the last and best precision casting chassis.

Here you can see the quality comparison of printed plastic housing and precision casting brass housing.
BR,
Siegfried
Notice: the BR01 housing is NOT made of plastic and painted gold, it is made of BRASS

First test of my German BR01 with new steam wheel current collectors.
Slow approach is the big challenge of micromechanics and will be improved again by special contact springs on steam wheel back side
pls, join the test video

Great work on your locomotive! Love the round house.
Please tell us more about how you are doing your steam wheel current collectors.
Joe.

Update:
today I receved my 1st approach of etched current collectors (phosphorus bronze, 0,05mm)

This 6 types have to be tested.

Looks as if you have a bit of testing to do.....
How are you going to mount the shim onto the metal chassis without it making electrical contact?

I´m using 0,1mm epoxy with same outline for isolation

Update:
the isolation is very simple by using plastic chassis with glued current collectors

and so I willl run next tests with the new chassis.

i like to combine the following materials to reach the maximum weight of the loco (from left to rigt)::

housing and chassis set A: total weigt = 2,2g
housing plastic = 0,3g
chassis brass = 1,9g
housing and chassis set B: total weigt = 3,8g
housing brass = 1,9g
chassis brass = 1,9g
housing and chassis set C: total weigt = 5,6g
housing 999 gold = 5,3g
chassis plastic = 0,3g

I think it's really fantastic in what level of detail you work!! I also read the whole thread very carefully and I'm really fascinated!
I saw some loco chassis and frame parts are printed in 3D (by shapeways). In one of the last posts you wrote something about:

So please, can you explain a little bit more about the procedure to get such parts? Which manufacturer did you choose and is it the same procedure as like schapeways (upload 3D data and receive an offer...)!? I know there are many questions, but I am very interested on your work!

Hello, Wolfgang,
I have my model made in the jewellery industry using the investment casting method.
I transfer the STL-files and receive the cast model by mail. the models from shapewyas were always only half-finished - I always had to rework them. My models from the jewellery industry can be used without reworking.
This quality is 4 times more expensive. So what, since I broke the 5000€ mark I don't do any more calculations anyway

Siegfried

Siegfried send me one of his excellent 01 bodies and the breached spoke hub caps for the wheels and I'm now building this steam locomotive in cooperation with him. He will also have the cross heads and another small part made for me. It will probably be the most perfect locomotive I have ever put on the T-gauge tracks, as can be seen from the attached photos already. An important step towards the first model railway steam locomotive in T Gauge, that will build in series.
Because the interest for this locomotive is probably greatest in Germany, I beg your forgiveness, that I write everything again in German:
