OzRailways Flying Scotsman
I just completed my Ozrail Flying Scotsman. Actually, I still have to give the main wheels some graphics. I plan to draw them in illustrator, and make a decal. We will see how it goes!
Ozrail did a great job on its design. It is not an easy model to paint at this size, but a good challenge.

Joe,
You did an excellent job of painting the Flying Scotsman loco and tender. I agree that some decals for the driving wheels should improve the look.
Great job!

Superb work. Quite something in this scale.
Have you tried running it?

And another vote for your painting. Very well done indeed to get that quality in this scale. Does look far better done that my own models that I am showing on my own thread!
Also, you are creating an excellent show case for Ozrail's loco, which has now move onto my wants lists.

Re: OzRailways Flying Scotsman
Thanks guys for the nice comments. This is a video of the model running on my new layout I am working on. MICRO-STEAMTOWN. I just had to complete the Flying Scotsman before posting any pictures of it! The Flying Scotsman, like most TGauge trains seems to run smoother with two powered cars.

Ok, I ended up painting the wheels just to see how they look. I still plan on making a decal, but it may take me some time to get to it. However, I am liking the look of the painted wheels!

Lots of people started trying on the "Flying Scotsman" but your finalized version is the very best I've seen up to now

Very nice work on that model - it even runs well!

Reviving someone else's old thread as I'm too lazy to start a new one.
I still around, but not as active as I use to be since I'm currently $18,000 in debt due to purchasing a loco at the other end of the scale. (7 1/4inch gauge)
Which is why I haven't been doing much here.
Anyway I have been trying to get my head around with making a Flying Scotsman with moving driving wheels.
However with everything needing perfect precision, it's not been easy. Attached is the first failed prototype.
The problems I've encountered.
1. Driving wheels sitting too high, can be fixed but hard to get right since prints are pricey. (Again I'm not got much cash at the moment to spare)
2. Don't track curves to well, especially on the turnouts.
3. Ultra Fine print, Is not a very strong material.
Anyway That's all for now.

Hi Ozrail,
You are doing a great job on your locomotive.
If it is the same wheel spacing as my model it should track the curves? However, I have not tried my 4-6-2 on any turnouts yet.
Building a working steam locomotive in TGauge is very challenging, but keep working at it and you will succeed!

Re: OzRailways Flying Scotsman
Yes, the Wheels are spaced to work with the Flying Scotsman rods.
The Wheels are not handling curves for several reasons, and magnet in the switches are effecting the drive wheels.
Not to mention each other, I might need to de-magnet the middle one.
Yes I know Steam engines are a challenge, but I have made several attempts.
Although to be fair, none of my previous models had working driving wheels at the time.
Anyway, maybe I should just leave future steam loco sales to you.

Re: OzRailways Flying Scotsman
I de-magnetized the rear two wheels on mine as they are right under the motor, and seemed to slow her down.
I also had several failures, and lost many nights of sleep trying to get mine to run right!
I think it will be a huge boost to TGauge when TGauge.com releases their locomotive for sale. Then people can just make different chassis to fit.

Re: OzRailways Flying Scotsman
Not sure how easily a body swap will be, as I've seen a prototype for their steam loco. (They were kind enough to send me a photo.)
But one can hope.
