What track to get

Post by Towers »

I'm starting a new layout and I intend to use flexi-track instead of the set track this time, so I can have nice wide corners and not have a join ever 50mm. What track should I go for though? The grey sleepers or the brown ones? Has anyone compared them? Which do you prefer?

They are functionally identical, so I used brown for the traditional wood colour and so it stood out against the grey ballast. I painted the track brown before ballasting (both rails and sleepers) which makes the colour of the plastic almost irrelevant, but since some of this gets scraped off during the post-ballasting track cleanup it was another reason to stick with brown.

Depends - if you are modelling a real location, is the track laid on concrete or wood sleepers.
You can alter the colour of the ballast by adding a touch of indian ink to the glue mix .
