Hi

I have seen the posts on the Robins Run thread about control of manual points but I am sure I have seen a more detailed 'how to' on another post but I have spent several days lookig for it. Either I am mistaken or my search skills are seriously lacking please help

I think I posted a thread sometime in 2012 on the original Talking T Gauge forum detailing how I cabled controlled the points on Robins Run. The whole forum was taken down when David Smith closed the forum due to xenophobic content posting and emails he had from a UK based forum member.

The first 20 or so posts on the Robins Run thread here were reconstructed from photographic history...and the photos of the cable operation were in this time scale.

Basically, I 3D printed a plate that screwed onto the bottom of the point, and I replaced the existing hand control slide with a slide that had a cable clamp built into it. The cables were PTFE tube with wire operation cables that were made for RC aircraft, etc. I then made an "organ stop" style pull-push at the other end of the cable.

Here's one shot I posted here:

The screws were positioned to clamp the edge of the track section....and you can see the replacement slider...underneath there's just a hole that the cable inner runs through and a clamp screw. I think I had to cut a bit off the existing plate on the underside of the points.
