Re: Pennsylvania 4-6-2 Steam Locomotive.

Uwe, The video’s in my build thread of my Pennsylvania 4-6-2 show my model runs well using the tender for picking up power. I really have had no issues with drag, but I am only using two magnetic wheels on the front and rear bogies of the tender. However, I will experiment with picking up power fr...

Re: 4012 Big Boy

Hi Guys, Sorry I have been off of the forum for a while and missed reading these posts. I appreciate all of the advice on this project. We all basically learn from each other’s work, and try to inspire others to do the same. Using the springs and picking power from the bogie’s has been working g...

Re: Crescent Limited 4-6-2

I glue my wheels onto the axles using Gorilla glue. After gluing them on I place the model in this vise to keep them aligned while the glue dries. The glue sets up in 30-60 minutes. However, I was having a little problem with a few wheels sticking to the frame. I solved this issue by just running th...

Re: Crescent Limited 4-6-2

I have finally returned to work on this project after taking a long break! I just completed my training with American Airlines on the E-190, and I am now back to a semi normal work schedule. Actually, I will be on reserve for the next month or two, so I will have even more time to do some modeling i...

Re: Crescent Limited 4-6-2

Hi Siegfried,

Sorry for the delay in posting this, the tender weighs 1.12 grams. I really haven't tested it yet, but it should be better than my original version.

Hi Siegfried,

The weight is 7.25mm long. I just cut one of the weights that comes with the 16-27 M adjustable chassis.

Re: Crescent Limited 4-6-2

This is my printed foam parts sheet that will make up the locomotive body and tender. I just have to cut them all by out by hand with a #11 knife blade!

Re: Crescent Limited 4-6-2

I painted the Garolite tender frame black, and then added the pickup wires. The springs were then added, and I soldered the top of the springs to the wire to assure good contact.

Re: OzRailways Flying Scotsman

I de-magnetized the rear two wheels on mine as they are right under the motor, and seemed to slow her down. I also had several failures, and lost many nights of sleep trying to get mine to run right! I think it will be a huge boost to TGauge when TGauge.com releases their locomotive for sale. Then p...

Re: OzRailways Flying Scotsman

Hi Ozrail, You are doing a great job on your locomotive. If it is the same wheel spacing as my model it should track the curves? However, I have not tried my 4-6-2 on any turnouts yet. Building a working steam locomotive in TGauge is very challenging, but keep working at it and you will succeed! Joe.

Crescent Limited 4-6-2

I started on a new Crescent Limited 4-6-2 steam locomotive. I am making some small improvements to my design. The first one is that I added some weight to the tender. My Pennsylvania 4-6-2 is running well with out any weight as long as I have a car attached. I am think a little weight will help it wh...

4012 Big Boy

I started working on my Big Boy. I am very fortunate to have a real Big Boy # 4012 at the Steam Town museum that is around a 40 minute drive from my home. I went and took lots of photos for reference, and I know that I will be taking many more. It will be a very challenging, but fun model to design....
