Re: GWR Steam
This linear motor thing seems to have unlimited possibilities. Terrific stuff Martin. Would it be better not to have connecting rods at all, rather than static ones?

Re: Outer Melbourne
Saw Martin's two linear motor layouts this morning at the Australian Model Railway Association exhibition at Caulfield Racecourse in Melbourne. Very impressive, especially 'Outer Melbourne' with the working road/rail level crossing with working half-barriers. If linear motors can be commercialised f...

Re: Outer Melbourne
Doh, sorry, just seen that it's 1/450th scale. Have you made the motors smaller than for Monbulk Creek?

Re: A Black Day for the Model Raiway World
This was terrible and must be devastating for the people whose models have been destroyed. Hours and hours of work wrecked by mindless idiots. I wonder about young people today, in Britain especially. No money can make amends but I saw that 60,000 pounds has been donated to the club, including 10,00...

Let me know if you want any help with train consists. BTW, I assume you know there'll be another Garratt in a few months' time - a regauged ex-South African NGG16. Welsh Highland?

Looking good Martin. The colour of the first three carriages (NBHs) and the last vehicle (an NC van?) look about right.

Re: Monbulk Creek
Thanks Martin. That's very helpful. Very interesting stuff. Couple of further questions: * Can the PCBs, magnets and electrical controller be purchased commercially or did you make your own? If purchased, where from? * Can you make 'points'. If so, that would be another big advantage of linear motor...

Re: Monbulk Creek
Hi Martin, That's brilliant. For an electrical dumbo like me, can you explain how the linear motor and track work, please: * Does the rolling stock have wheels or does the linear motor just drag the locos and carriages along the track? * Is there any track or is it just paper, per the blurb in the v...

Re: Forum still very quiet
I agree that this forum does seem to be very quiet. Seem to be observers rather than contributors. The photos in my last post about my layout in 2 laptop boxes have been viewed 547 times but only one person went to the trouble of saying anything. I value and read what people say, especially as I'm a...
