Re: The Bridges at Saltash

That looks really good. Is the "chain" also printed? I would have thought that you would have "a lot" of friction due to printed surfaces and the type of plastic used?

This is a new printer for you right? Would like to hear a bit more about how you like it, but in the right forum :D

Re: Has anybody used finescale curved track?

I have used it a lot, and for the 60mm radius nothing beyond the 16M chassis will work. On 70mm I have run 19M chassis..... but its not reliable, so in practice I can not recommend to run anything larger than the 16M chassis. Here is a very short video I did a while back that shows the 16mm chassis ...

Re: Isolating tracks.

I re-read your questions again and may be able to give some advice. 1. You ask: “… safe to use the Straight Isolating Track (R-030) with the risks entailed in soldering to those tracks…”. I have used isolating tracks and they work, but I have never soldered them. I am not sure what you mean by “safe...

Re: Isolating tracks.

Hi David. I don't think you haven't gotten a response because no one wants to help you. I would guess that no one has tried to do what you're attempting. I have been doing T for about 4 years and have been active on this forum since then. I have not tried anything like this, and I can't recall I've ...

Re: Has anyone used the new fine scale track?

My explanation was probably terrible. I hope this image can clarify what I mean. If you look at the red circle you see what I mean with "height" difference.

Re: Has anyone used the new fine scale track?

That video is from me :) Pre assemble them as you described would work and be faster..... The only issue I can see is that the joiners wraps around the rail so you don't really have a flat surface under the rail that covers all 6 ties. By applying the ties (sleepers) separately you will get it flush...

Re: KG's Micro Layout

Micro Layout Mockup I decided on the option 4 track plan but I changed the inner oval to be raised versus the outer making the overpass a bit more complex. I made a “mockup” of the layout pinning the tracks to the foam board and created “elevated track support” out of cardboard. This is a gr...

Is the EMD GP8 really an 8?

I had a very slow Sunday waiting for a bunch of stuff drying and setting so I geeked out a bit on the GP8 which I think is actually “more of a GP9”. One of my general Prototype references is http://trainiax.net/ This is a GP8: http://trainiax.net/drawings/18-emd/gp8/r18-emd-gp8-ph3c-7e.GIF Look ...
