I'm almost embarrassed to suggest that anybody taking apart or assembling tiny parts as in the T Gauge components should do so with hand inside a nice clear plastic bag.
If things go "boing" they will remain inside the bag for another attempt.

Longer narrower type bags are best (freezer bags ?) then cut off the closed end so it is open both ends.

This has worked for me on other small assemblies.
