Newbury Model Railway Show 2017

Postby dkightley » Sun Mar 13, 2016 11:14 am

I've just had The Bridge invited to the Newbury Model Railway Show in February 2017.

Venue: St Bartholomews School, Buckingham Road Newbury, Berkshire RG14 6JP

This was the show where Robins Run made its first appearance as a completed layout in 2014....so I have fond memories of the show. Bill Veloz, the show organiser has been following my build log and contacted me this morning.

This show will give all of you T Gaugers in the south of England the not to be missed opportunity to see the layout....so this is a must for the diary!! And.....hint, hint.....I'll more than likely be needing some help assembling and running the layout!!!

With this show now less than seven weeks away, I thought it a good time to post a reminder that this is the perfect opportunity for those of you living in Southern England to get to see The Bridge in person.

The show is only on for a single day.....so cancel all other engagements and put the date firmly in your diaries!! :D :D

A reminder of the show....The Newbury Model Railway Show, held at St Bartholomew's School on Andover Road, Newbury on Saturday 11th February 2017.

PS Anyone local who may be able to help setting up on the Friday evening or packing away after the show.....do please PM me. I'd be really grateful for help!

Newbury MRC may be able to help there Doug. We should have a number of spare hands once the clubs monster O gauge circle is up. I don't know how many layouts will be coming in on the Friday night yet (7pm - 9pm).

Should be quite a contrast , the Bridge and an O oval 42 ft x 21ft.

With just over four weeks to go, I thought I'd post a reminder that this show is likely to be only opportunity for anyone in southern England to be able to easily get to see The Bridge in operation.....that is unless Glasgow will be easier to reach!!!

Show details: Saturday 11th February at St Bartholomew's School on Andover Road, Newbury on Saturday 11th February 2017. Opening times 10:00am to 4:30pm.

D-day -4

I think I have everything ready that I want to get done before fetching and packing the van. Just the last minute jobs to do.....track cleaning, wheel cleaning, etc

And this is my last reminder that this show will probably be the only opportunity for the layout to be seen in southern England.......

After a tiring couple of days, I've just about got things cleared up and put away....until the next show!!!

Yesterday was a steady day, with a stream of visitors showing great interest in the layout. On a couple of occasions, I even spoke to people who came to the show specifically to see the layout...and were not disappointed.

I'd like to thank the organisers and Newbury MRC members for making me welcome and providing much needed help Sherpa-ing from the school hall to the car park. Particular thanks to Alan Robertson who babysat the layout while I took time for a spot of lunch.

The automation performed fairly well and I had three trains running for an hour or so....until one of he DMU sets suddenly stopped running reliably and I had to retire it, leaving a DMU and loco & carriages to chase each other round for the rest of the day.

It was a real shame no forum members came along.....

Thanks for coming down, the Bridge was the personal highlight of the day for me, amongst a lot of other extremely good displays as well. The Bridge features here in a well made record of the show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vf32mipjllA
