Thoughts about how all my hard work can be seen got me thinking about lights....and after a chat with a colleague at the Tramway Museum who supplied the lighting for the Starlight Halloween event, I put together a lighting rig. Four strips of Ikea LED lights...:

Filling in the gaps around the layout continues. Here, thick paper glued in layers forms a wall to edge a cutting:

As I'm finally catching up with real time updates, I thought I'd group shots from the last couple of weeks into different subjects...and then take the lock off so to open the thread up for comments, etc.

First, here's some shots of my way of laying roads:

Friday was a day of hellish mixed fortunes!!!

I spent the who;e day cleaning the track down .....removing scenery and glue that would impede free running. And by mid afternoon, I had a single mororised unit running smoothly round both loops. I even knocked up a small device to drag around under a unit to clean the track.

The evening turned to a horror story though. I went to a friends house to discuss events at the Tramway Museum......and just after ten pm...Thunk!!! from outside. And when we looked, there was a Volkswagon Golf embedded into the front of my car! Rushing outside, we found the car sitting there, engine running.....and all the occupants gone! So, after calling the police and having my car towed away cos it was undriveable...the Golf had pushed it three or four feet down the pavement into a van parked behind it.. I was given a lift home.

The fun continued when I got home....when I switched the kitchen light on....Flash! Bang..Tinkle, tinkle. I was now standing in the dark. The light fitting had exploded....and blown the lighting circuit fuse!

So most of Saturday was taken up takling to my insurance company, arranging a hire car, and buying and replacing a light fitting...and mending an uplighter light I moved from the lounge into the kitchen so I could see what I was doing. The base fell of it!

Late evening...I did finally manage to get some more scenery laid:
