Robot attack on the forum

Postby dkightley » Thu Jul 25, 2019 7:09 pm

For about eight hoursnow, the Talking T Gauge forum has been subject to a repeated and persistent robot attack by a robot.....where repeated attempts....some successful.....have been made to register on the forum.

As a result, I have turned off new user registration so that I can firstly sort out the crap users that have been generated, and amend the registration anti-robot registration measures.

This means that for the time being, no new user registrations will be accepted by the forum... If you are a legitimate new user attempting to register then please accept my apologies for barring registration. Please try again in a couple of days.

Talking T Gauge admin.

[EDIT 02/08/2019 01:34 BST] Registration has been re-enabled...…..forum being constantly monitored for rogue users. If you have legitimately attempted to register and have not received an email welcoming, please try registering again......

Although the forum is still under constant attack by robots trying to create accounts that once activated are then subject to intense marketing of illicit and illegal products, we now have managed....for the time being, that is.....to get a level of spam counter-measures in place to stop the attacks getting through...and tens of gobblygook users registered on a daily basis!!!

We will continue to continually monitor the situation for some weeks to come...…

If anyone reading this thread has attempted to register a username and have had no response on the activation of that username, please accept our apologies for possibly accidentally deleting your registration amongst the many trash usernames that have been crated in the past few weeks. Please try again to register....and if you do not succeed, do drop an email to admin [AT] talkingtgauge.net ( replacing [AT} with @ ) and we'll sort your registration out for you....
