VE Day Celebrations....

Postby dkightley » Mon May 11, 2015 1:24 am

I know this is way off topic for the forum.

I know this may only relate to those in the UK, but did anyone see the VE Day concert from Horseguards Parade on Saturday evening....and if so, did you see someone you knew?

Well, I did. And here's a screen grab of it:

No! I'm not referring to Chris Evans.....I'm referring to Lucy.

Here's a photo of me and Lucy from a couple of years ago:

Lucy is of course a replica Spitfire built by the Fylde Spitfire Group, a group supporting a RAF veteran who lived near Blackpool. And Lucy was appearing at the WW2 weekend in August 2012 at the National Tramway Museum. I had to have the photo shoot....as I was the one who co-ran the event!

Sadly I don't know those people, but awesome Spitfire! I fly it sometimes (in games).

Totally cool plane>>>I found a couple of 1/450 scale sea planes

....They were part of a plastic boat model kit I spotted at a yard sale...I ended up paying 18$ for the whole boat kit just to get the little planes....I have a water feature on my layout and I'm planning on using the planes on it......Although by your standards my representations will be fanciful at best.

And I've just found out that the Spitfire that was on the other side of the stage on Horseguards is the Spitfire that is coming to the Tramway Museum this August to our second WW2 event of the season.

How's that for a coincidence?? :)
